We have another cover reveal for you today!! YA urban fantasy,Options by Abbi Glines. This is the first book in a new trilogy.
A huge thank you to AToMR for the opportunity to participate in the reveal!!
Two paths.
Two completely different roads.
Each one standing before me.
Each one holding a different destiny.
In life you're just supposed to choose one path.
In life you're not given the chance at choosing one specific future.
Until now.
Until me.
Why am I different? I don't know. But I'm going to see those roads and walk down each one. When it's over I'll know which one to choose because I'll know my - options.
This summer… their love will annihilate the world!
For sixteen-year-old FALLON BRAEDEN, being haunted was just another day in the life of a gypsy, like being on the run had always been a closely guarded secret her mother would have happily taken to the grave… if her past hadn’t caught with them.
But when Fallon is stalked by fire-throwing demons, nearly killed by rebel mutants and finds a soul mate she can never have, even her normally unusual life is thrown into a tangled web of love, lies and betrayal.
As worlds collide, secrets unfold and blood is spilt, Fallon comes to several unsettling revelations: she’s not entirely human, her creator has a bounty on her head and the only one who can save her is the one person she has to keep at arm’s length or risk destroying the world for.
Expected publication: July 31st 2012
REVIEW:I love nothing more than getting to the end of a book and being completely certain that what you've just read will be something that you will read again and again!! Simply because you completely loved it from start to finish and it was so good you didn't want to put it down. That is exactly how I feel about Touching Smoke!!
Fallon and her mum spend their days travelling from place to place never really staying in one spot for too long, only long enough for Fallon's mum to work to save enough money for them to move on to their next destination. During those short periods Fallon is placed in boarding school. It's at her latest boarding school that Fallon meets Isaiah and the reasons for her and her mum's constant travel becomes dangerously clear!!
The author gives us a whole new take on the paranormal and I was honestly left guessing as to what exactly Fallon and Isaiah were. Just when I thought I had things figured out it turns out I was completely wrong!! The action starts almost immediately and continues throughout the book. And there is definitely never a dull moment!!
The characters are all fantastic. Even the ones who are so wicked and twisted that you can't help but want them to be dealt some of their own medicine.
Now some people might say that I fall in love with book characters too easily. And if we're being completely honest, to say that my list of book boyfriends is long would be a massive understatement!! But, I have a lot of love to give and my heart is big enough that they all hold a really special place in it. So what harm is there in adding one more right? What's that you say? No harm at all!!! Glad to see that you agree with me, because I couldn't not add Isaiah to that list of book crushes... He loves Fallon with such intensity!! His NEED to protect her and care for her was beautiful.
“What am I?” I whispered, my eyelids already drooping in the promises of sleep.
If at any point I doubted that he felt half of what I felt, he pressed his lips to my ear, and whispered, “Mine. Always.”
*Sigh* Tell me, who wouldn't fall in love with that!! At one stage Fallon says "He was a walking symphony of predatory magnetism"... Yep, I'm hooked!! And Fallon loves him with the same intensity. The same NEED to protect and care for him. I just adore this couple!!
My only complaint is that there is now a whole year to wait for book two in this fantastic new series!! An incredibly huge thank you to Airicka Phoenix for introducing me to Fallon and Isaiah and the whole cast of characters that have gone into making Touching Smoke the awesome read that it is!!
A huge incredible 5 swoon worthy, action packed stars!!
Fiery Librian Julieanne Lynch is an author of urban fantasy books for both adults and teens. Julieanne lives in Northern Ireland, where she works on her Shadows Trilogy and other series full-time. Before becoming a writer, she considered a few different career paths, a rock star being one of them. She studied English Literature and Creative Writing at The Open University, and considered journalism as a career path. However, she decided writing was the way for her and believes all of her education and reading prepared her for it.
An avid reader, Julieanne has always had an encompassing fascination with folklore. When not writing, she enjoys crime series such as Criminal Minds, CSI, NCIS and Cold Case, and loves anything with Vampires, listening to metal, meeting new people, drinking lots of green tea, and sharing her dreams with her children. She is a self-professed goth wanna-be,and is happy when left to write into the early hours of the morning.
Julieanne's YA series, The Shadows Trilogy, is published by Vamptasy Publishing and thus far contains In the Shadows. It follows the war between vampires and shadow creatures. Giselle Bergman, an 18-year old human girl, falls victim to a scheme by one of her closest childhood friends, and embarks on a journey that sees her become the center of a battle between good and evil.
Within The Shadows (#1 - A Shadow World Novel)
Living on the razors edge, Giselle Burgman's life is torn apart by her cheating boyfriend. Little does she realise that he is the least of her worries when her long term friend Alex introduces her to his family and a new, darker world. A world of lies, deceit and corruption. Thrown from one problem straight into another, the razors edge gets thinner and sharper, testing Giselle's sanity and vitality. Not even she can hide when living within the shadows.
Bitter Kisses (A Short Story)
In a world full of fantastical wonder, one lone vampire walks headfirst into an old age battle, but what he meets he is ill prepared for. A life long friendship is forged, but with it comes a curse.
I'm so excited to be involved in the cover reveal for Don't Tell by Mercy Amare! This sounds like a fantastic read!!
I could be surrounded by a million people, but I would still feel alone. I smile on the outside, but inside I feel like I’m slowly dying. I cry out for help, but nobody sees me, at least not the real me. They see a façade, a mask that I put on to hide the pain.
I pretend that I’m normal, but really, what is normal? Maybe what I’m feeling is normal. The hurt, the disappointment, the loneliness… it could all just be a part of life. Maybe I will never know what normal is.
I put on long sleeves and makeup to hide the bruises, but they only mask the outside. What happens when I can’t carry my burden alone any longer? What would happen if I told somebody the truth?
Don't Tell is a YA Contemporary Romance about love, forgivness and hope. Coming Fall 2012
Mercy Amare writes YA fiction books. She has a slight addiction to NOS, and her guilty pleasure is Pretty Little Liars.
Rebecca Gober Rebecca Gober was born in Houston, Texas in 1982 and spent most of her life growing up in Dallas, Texas. In between working full time, being a wife and mother of two, Rebecca has never let her passion for reading and fiction fall through the cracks. Rebecca Gober's first book, Night Marchers, which she co-authored with her best friend and partner in crime, Courtney Nuckels, was released in e-book format in October of 2011. They also just released the second book in the Night Marchers series, Redemption, in February 2012.
Rebecca and Courtney are downhome country girls powered by chocolate and other random late night cravings. Coined in southern twang they bring new meaning to the word y'all. BFI's since the 6th grade, with a knack for getting into sticky situations, has resulted in countless ideas to write about for years to come.
When Rebecca is not working or writing, you can find her spending time with her family and her not so little puppy Neo.
Courtney Nuckels
Wife, Mother, Reader, Writer, Sewer, and Crafter. Hates Awkward silences, wedgies, fast food, styrofoam and bad drivers. Obsessively uses the word y'all.
“NEVER, EVER lock eyes with a Night Marcher!” Everyone in Hawaii has heard this warning, except for seventeen-year-old Emma Townsend that is. For most Hawaiians know that looking into the eyes of Night Marcher can strike a curse that will end in death or eternal servitude.
Even though her father, who is a paranormal investigator, solely raised Emma, she has little experience in the realm of the supernatural. When she is forced to move with her father to Hawaii, only months before her graduation, Emma finds that her world as she knows it, is shaken when she starts seeing the unexplainable: fire balls in the distance, beating drums in the middle of nowhere and strangers who vanish into thin air. Then one day when she has a run in with a procession of Night Marchers, ancient Hawaiian spirits wandering from their burial grounds to their locations of battles past, Emma has no choice but to believe that the unbelievable does exist.
Now Emma must go on the run with the help of a mysterious stranger, as they seek out how to free Emma from the curse of a Night Marcher, who will stop at nothing to get her soul.
Redemption (Night Marchers #2)
He would endure a thousand deaths for her, but would she let him? Torn between two men that love her, Emma Townsend is forced to make choices no seventeen-year-old should ever be forced to make. With her friends at her side, Emma embarks on an adventure full of danger, deceit and betrayal as she tries to redeem Kai, the man who made the ultimate sacrifice for her. When Emma discovers that setting a Night Marcher free is no easy task, she is forced to make a very unlikely alliance. How far will Emma be willing to go to save Kai, and will she be able to do so before it's too late?
Project ELE
Who is ELE and can Willow survive her?
From the authors of Night Marchers comes an all new apocalyptic series with a twist of the paranormal.
1. Why did you choose to write a book in the Young Adult genre?
Both of us read YA and love it; especially since the stories are innocent
and clean for the most part. Also, I think that right now YA has the most unique
paranormal stories of all of the genres. To top that off, there is something
fascinating and relatable in a coming of age story. The adults who love this
genre have been there and the teens that love it are going through it so YA can
really connect with pretty much any reader.
2. Who is your favourite character you have written and why?
Courtney- Kaylee from Night Marchers. Kaylee is me. It’s funny when I
read reviews people either love Kaylee or hate her. I laugh because I guess
this is how people must perceive me in real life!
Rebecca- Willow Mosby. (Our heroine in our upcoming ELE Series.) She has
some very interesting things happening to her in Project ELE. It's fun to write
and I'm excited to explore how she continues to evolve with these changes.
3. Describe a typical writing day for you?
Courtney- My writing day begins when I drop my children off at school.
After the hectic morning of getting them out of the door (which is often times
considered an Olympic event) I need a little break. I brew a fresh cup of
herbal tea (with a little dab of vanilla creamer) and get online. I check
emails, Facebook etc. I’ll then pull up the document Rebecca sent me from the
day before. I’ll read, edit and then write. Usually in that order J. When I’m
done putting on the finishing touches of the day I’ll send the document to
Rebecca and she’ll take over from there.
Rebecca- For me it would be a typical writing night. I get home from my day
job, spend some quality time with my family, then I pop the top on a Red Bull
and open up my Mac so I can get to it. I usually write on my laptop in the
living room while my family is watching TV or playing video games. I feel better
knowing that I'm still in the room with them and not just locking myself away.
It's funny too because if I'm writing an intense scene, my husband will look
over and ask if I'm okay. I guess my face takes on the emotions I'm writing. So
if my character is in a fight, I look mad. Or if my character is hurting I look
depressed or sad. LOL!
4. What are you reading at the moment?
Courtney- The Forest of Hands and Teeth by: Carrie Ryan
Rebecca- Bloodlines by Richelle Mead (I loved the Vampire Academy
series.)
5. If you turned your ipod on now, what would be the song that is currently
playing?
Courtney- Fearless by: Taylor Swift (to say I’m a bit obsessed would be an
accurate assumption)
Rebecca- I just turned it on to see and here's what played:
Ain't No Rest for the Wicked by Cage the Elephant. (I had to get this song
after watching the intro to the Borderlands video game.)

Excerpt
from Pretty Sacrifices
“Let our daughter go,” Kevin said. “This
doesn’t concern her.”
Nyx reached out and wrapped one of Kaia’s
curls around her finger. “Oh, this concerns her intimately. I understand that
she was born to be a demon-hunter too.”
“Please?” Deirdre begged.
Nyx yanked hard on Kaia’s hair before
releasing it. As Kaia winced, Nyx cocked her head. “Oh, that maternal bond is
such a mystery to me. Tell you what, Momma Moonstone, let’s see whom you really
love more. I’ll give you a choice. I will let you and your daughter live, but
banish your husband to one of my special little hells of endless torment, or
you and your husband will die together and I’ll send you both to that happy
afterlife realm you so quaintly call Summerland. Your daughter will be a sad
little orphan, and I promise to never let her rest in peace. Which will it be,
Momma Moonstone?”
A cry of anguish escaped Deirdre.
Kaia thought fast—she didn’t want her
father to suffer. “Aunt Brennan will take care of me, and I’ll grow up to be
the best demon-fighter in the whole world. I’ll vanquish Nyx someday. I
promise.”
Nyx regarded Kaia with a look of amusement,
then returned her attention to Deirdre.
“You’ve got thirty seconds to make your
choice: your husband or your daughter? Whom do you love more?”
Deirdre stared at Kaia, her face pale as
moonlight.
“Tick tock.” Nyx’s voice was smooth. “You
choose, or I’ll make the choice for you.”
“Send us to Summerland,” Deirdre whispered.
“I’m so sorry, Kaia. I love you more than you’ll ever know.”
Kaia broke free of Nyx’s invisible grasp
and raced toward her parents. The albino bear magically appeared and tackled
her moments before an enormous bolt of lightning slammed into the tree that
held her parents captive.
Berry Bear tried to cover Kaia’s face so
she wouldn’t witness the execution, but she bit his paw, he jerked it away, and
she saw it all. The roar of thunder drowned out her shrieks. She kicked,
pummeled, and bit Berry Bear until she was able to squirm out from beneath him.
Trembling, she managed to stand tall and proud and face the enemy. “I will
vanquish you, Nyx.”
A slow grin crossed Nyx’s face. “Our day
will come, little spitfire.”
Kaia’s hatred exploded and she charged Nyx,
but Berry Bear intercepted her. He scooped Kaia up in his arms and raced toward
the village.
“I’ll vanquish her,” she whispered through
choking sobs. “If it’s the last thing I do.”

“Ah, straight to the point.” His eyes narrowed into slits. “Very plucky. Most would have the sense to be more fearful and not ask questions,” he growled softly.
I held my breath, controlling my instincts. A snarl was always a signal for me to transform. But, I held back, on full alert.
“I was told that about you. And that’s one of the reasons you’re here. You’ve been appointed as a mentor.”
It was my turn to smirk. I got to my feet. “I can’t beappointedanything. Thanks for thinking of me, though. I guess it’s some kind of honor. But, no thanks.” I made my way to the door.
And crashed right into Jagger’s chest. I should have anticipated his move; lightning-fast location transfer was something covered in the first semester. I clumsily stepped back, then met his darkened gaze.
He lowered his head, brushing his nose along my neckline, breathing me in. I stood dead still, letting my fingers fuse. I shivered as his lips found my right ear, his every breath forming icicles against my skin. Then, he touched my fused fingers.
“Easy, demon princess. Relax.”
I boiled over with anger. Who the fuck did he think I was? Some silly human girl who’d melt under his pathetic attempt at intimidation? Not so.
“Step back, and I will.” My words were supposed to come out in a firm demonic growl, but instead, they slithered out in an unfortunate raspy whisper.
As the corners of his lips curled into a leer, I jerked up my arm and swiftly wrapped my fingers around the back of his neck, pulling his face down to mine. His eyes widened in surprise, but he made no move to resist as I stood on tiptoes and roughly parted his lips with mine. I kept my eyes wide open, gazing into his, as I explored his mouth, drinking him in. He yielded under my touch. The kiss became more and more fervent, until a surge of hot and cold, of terror and excitement, zapped through me–and him, by the surprise on his face–leaving us shocked and unable to move. Our eyes remained locked together as we stood suspended in time.
Jagger looked as dazed as I felt. His eyes searched mine, but I had nothing to offer, no explanation. Then, it hit me. Dad had mentioned the extremely rare phenomenon. I raked through my mind, trying to remember what he had said.
An Interview with Jagger
I
have to be honest. I approached this interview with some hesitation, perhaps
even a little trepidation. After all, even though I feel I know him a bit
through Cordelia, I’ve never experienced Jagger directly. As he sits before me,
I can empathize with Cordelia. He is impossibly magnetic, his aura both
powerful and dangerous, the only release, a hint of humor gleaming in his
silver-gray eyes.
IR:
Jagger, thank you so much for agreeing to this interview. Are you excited about
starting a new year at the Academy?
Jagger:
My pleasure. I am, though I’m not exactly sure what my role will be this year.
I guess I’ll find out when I get there.
IR:
So, you’re not heading back as the Student Council President?
Jagger:
I wouldn’t think so. That position is usually only awarded for a year. Plus, my
time at the academy is officially over.
IR:
Why are you going back, then?
Jagger:
Mainly to keep an eye on my brother, Ryker.
IR:
And Cordelia?
Jagger:
Yes, hmm. You said that you had some questions from my fans...
IR:
I do! Here is one from Sean Sweeney. He wants to know what you got Cordelia for
Valentine’s Day.
Jagger:
Myself. However, like any girl, she obviously needed a “token” as well. I got
her a little secret something from Harry Winston.
IR:
Nice! The next question is about Cordelia as well. Al Kunz, the infamous celeb
book blogger, aka The Snake, wants to know what really happened on the slopes.
He wants details.
Jagger:
He couldn’t handle the details.
IR:
LOL! There you have it, Al! Moving on... Michelle Cable wants to know what you
thought when you first saw Cordelia and what you thought of that electrifying
kiss.
Jagger:
That she’s stunning is apparent to all who are lucky enough to behold her. I
was struck by her beauty as soon as I saw her, when she first arrived at the
academy. It was my policy to stay away from demons, though. Every kiss with her
is electrifying, but I’m guessing you mean our very first kiss. I was shocked,
but immediately realized what had happened.
IR:
Too bad that doesn’t happen to humans. Synching sounds unbelievably intimate...
Jagger:
It is, but the realization that one is bound forever to this one being
frightening, too. That’s unnatural in the supernatural world.
IR:
I can see that. Faustine seems to bridge the gap between the human and the
paranormal worlds. My daughter Lauren wants to know what you think of Faustine,
and Vickie Boehnlein wants to know if you’re scared of Faustine.
Jagger:
I love Faustine. She’s like a little sister to me. I feel very protective of
her, even though I know that she can take care of herself. And yes, I’m scared
of her. I’d be stupid not to be. She’s one of the most powerful demons I’ve
ever come across.
IR:
Demons seem to like their food, meat in particular. Lynn O’Dell would like to
know if you prefer filet mignon or T-bones?
Jagger:
I’m not a demon, but I do prefer Filet Mignon.
IR:
That doesn’t surprise me. I have a last question from my friend Allirea
Brumley. She wants to know what’s going to happen to you next?
Jagger:
I’m not a Wanderer, so a trip into the future to answer that is not possible.
Say “hi” to her from me, though. I love her name... Allirea. Is she a faery?
IR:
Ha, ha. No, I don’t think so. Thank you so much, Jagger!
