BLURB:

Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something…
Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology, and that her feelings for him are strong. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her, his memories erased by Norns—Norse destiny deities—to punish her for defying them.

She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again.

But she quickly learns that well-laid plans do not work when dealing with deities and supernatural beings. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves.

EXCERPT

“Thanks, Mrs. Underwood.” I started to get up.
“Please, don’t leave yet. I want you to come see me every day after school for the rest of the week.”
I groaned.
She smiled. “Just for a few minutes to catch up. How did things go today?”
“Good.”
“Did anyone give you a hard time?”
“Not really.”
She studied me intently as though she knew I’d just lied, but then she nodded. “Okay. You can go now.” She got up and walked me to the door. “See you tomorrow.”
She meant well, but there was really nothing she could do for me. Students still loitered around the school’s front entrance and silence fell when I walked past them. Like this morning, whispers followed and people moved aside to clear a path for me. This time I didn’t cringe. I expected it.
Outside, some of the buses were still at the curb while others had pulled away. A group of students gathered somewhere to my right were laughing and pointing at someone or something in the east parking lot. Hopefully, it wasn’t some poor student. People were such idiots. Shaking my head, I started across Riverside Boulevard.
“Raine!” someone called.
I looked left. Lavania and Ingrid stood beside the SUV I’d seen Andris drive this morning. Lavania waved me over. I wanted to ignore her, but she was my trainer. If I wasn’t in love with Torin, I’d tell her right now I didn’t want to be a Valkyrie. But the thought of spending the rest of my life as a human, aging, while Torin stayed young for goddess knows how long didn’t appeal to me.
Sighing, I walked toward them.
As I got closer, I noticed Andris behind the steering wheel staring at me with an unreadable expression. Had his memories been erased, too? Why wasn’t Torin with them? His bike was still parked at the curb.
“We’re going to get something to drink at the Creperie before heading home. Why don’t you join us?” She indicated the car, and Ingrid hurried to open the back passenger door.
I shook my head. “Sorry, I can’t. I’m meeting my dad at the shop.”
“Your dad can wait.”
Who died and made her my guardian? “No, he can’t.”
Lavania stepped forward, her eyes boring into mine. “Listen, I’ve been sent down here to train and help you with your transition. I think—”
“Yeah, about that,” I interrupted her. “I haven’t really made up my mind whether I want to be a Valkyrie or not. Could I have more time to decide? A week or two?” Maybe forever.

My Thoughts:

His eyes narrowed, and then that sexy grin I loved curled his sculptured lips. "Nice try. No one looks like me, Raine. The world couldn't handle two of me."

When I got to the end of book one, Runes, I couldn't believe what I was reading. I'm the least patient person when it comes to waiting for the books that I love and that ending was a killer. I'm not a lover of cliffhangers, but boy if they don't make you desperate to read what happens next. And let me tell you, the wait was more than worth it!! Immortals has awesomeness dripping off every page!!!

Immortals picks up where Runes left off. Torin has no memory of Raine. He remembers nothing of the time they spent together or the feelings they shared. Raine is devastated, but she's not about to give up and walk away from the boy she loves. No, she's going to make Torin remember her and if that doesn't work she's going to make him fall in love with her again. And if that isn't enough to deal with, the Norns are back, her Dad doesn't seem to be getting better, Cora is acting strange and distant and Eirick is going through a whole pile of stuff.

I absolutely loved Raine in book one but in Immortals she became a much stronger, more well rounded character. She knows what she wants and she's going to go out and get it. She's going to do whatever it takes to protect those that mean the most to her. She is strong and loyal and loving. After the events of the previous book she is pretty much an outsider these days. She is looked upon as a freak and called as much on a regular basis at school. But each time she brushes it off stands tall.

"Touch me, Raine," he whispered achingly.
I wanted to touch him. Kiss him. Rip his shirt off and feast on every stretch of his hot body. I stared at his hands, my heart pounding with excitement and anticipation  One rested on the table, balled into a fist as though he was struggling for control. The other rested on the bench between us. He'd shred his varsity jacket and only wore a short-sleeved black polo shirt that hugged his masculine arms and hinted at the hard chest and abs underneath.
"Please," he begged.

Torin St James... He is Ednah Walters gift to every book reading woman. He's just got it in spades. He is still cocky and self assured. But it's the way in which he loves that does it for me. He loves with everything he has. Completely and passionately. He is right up there near the top of that book boyfriend list of mine. It's going to take an awful lot to knock him down that list!!

I loved that Eirick played a big part in this book. I liked all the changes that he's facing and the direction his storyline is taking. I love the relationship between him and Raine. Their closeness, love and familiarity with each other really shines through.

The last thing I expected was to love Andris as much as I did. I wasn't much of a fan in Runes but he was just amazing this time around. He had all these different layers to him. He was still frustrating at times, but he managed to prove what a good guy he was on more than one occasion.

The twists and turns were quite simply epic. Just when I thought I knew how things were going to progress, I was thrown a curveball and things went in a completely different direction. There was one aspect of the story that I guessed at, but that didn't make it any less intense when it was finally revealed.

Ednah Walters has very quickly become one of my favourite authors. I can see myself coming back to this series and reading it many times over. Her writing is superb. Her characters are fantastic. And her world building is brilliant!!

Yes, I needed Torin with every desperate breathe I took. If there was a realm for wickedness, he would be the deity ruling it and I'd be his first consort.

5/5 Torin St James IS ALL MINE Stars.
