AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT & GIVEAWAY: Kate Roth

Kate Roth has been writing everything from short stories to poetry since her days in junior high. Today she finds the most pleasure in writing love stories. She has a passion for a number of artistic endeavors including music, theater, fine art photography, as well as her day job as a professional cosmetologist. Kate is a small business owner living in Indiana with her husband Adam and their rescue dog Sampson. Her first novel, The Low Notes, was released May of 2012 by Rebel Ink Press.

The Low Notes
When a chance meeting between high school teacher Kevin Reed and singer Nina Jordan ignites an instant spark, they must decide if it's more important to follow your heart or follow the rules.

After caring for his dying father, Kevin Reed, returns to his hometown of Wexley Falls, bereaved, unemployed and exhausted at the thought of starting a new life. After a failed blind date, Kevin meets young singer Nina Jordan who takes his breath away with the sound of her voice. The connection is instantaneous and mutual on their first date, but both are crestfallen when they discover days later, to their horror, Nina is Kevin's student at the local high school.

Deciphering between notions of love and lust, fate and coincidence, Kevin and Nina find themselves unable to turn their backs on what they can't deny is a once in a lifetime feeling. Told from both perspectives, The Low Notes explores a love that feels right even though it seems wrong.

I happened upon The Low Notes one day a little while back while I was browsing on Amazon. Immediately it grabbed my attention. I love books that deal with something that is looked on as being a bit taboo. So the teacher, student attraction always intrigues me. I'm always interested to see how an author can take a situation that society deems as wrong and make you fall in love with the characters. Well Kate Roth managed to do just that. I loved Kevin and Nina and I desperately wanted things to work out for them. I think because Nina seemed much older that her 17 years and Kevin had a vulnerability about him. Weave throughout the story the added bonus of music and Kate's wonderful writing and The Low Notes proved to be a hit for me!!

***Anyway, I never wrote a review for The Low Notes purely because with my long list of books to review I just don't have time so I just gave it a star rating on Goodreads. Then I received an email from Kate asking me if I would like to host a giveaway and we sent a few emails back and forth and let me tell you, Kate is the nicest, sweetest person ever!! And she has donated TWO signed paperbacks and an iTunes giftcard to go with each since music is such a big part of the book. How awesome is that!!! ***

GIVEAWAY: Two prizes of a signed paperback and an iTunes giftcard (US/Can)
And I will throw in a Kindle download for all our international followers.
