FIVE QUESTIONS WITH... J.M. Zuniga (GIVEAWAY)

About the Author: (Taken from Goodreads)
Under Ground (The Diamond Mini-Series, Book 1) & The Core (The Diamond Mini-Series, Book 2) ,a series of short stories (less than 40 pages) all linked together. Each one starts where the other one left off. Ransom (The Diamond Mini-Series, Book 3) is a WIP and I hope to have that out by September 2012.

I love to read and write. I am a mother of 3, ages: 18, 16, and 4.

I began writing my first full length YA Paranormal/Speculative Fiction novel 2 1/2 years ago. Winter Rayne is still a WIP.

I have an adult novel that is a WIP called Nerves of Steel. I'm hoping to complete and publish it by October 2012.

I am majoring in Business Administration-International Business (emphasis: Latin America) at CSUDH.

My original major was architecture, but after graduating with an A.S. in Computer Aided Drafting and Design, I decided I would rather concentrate on opening a CADD business, thus the reason for working on a Bachelor's in Business.

At the same time I obtained my Associates in Science I also obtained an Associates in Arts for General Studies and Certificates in CADD, Engineering Drafting, and Architectural Drafting.

Under Ground (The Diamond Mini-Series Book #1)

Left alone in a secret room after their parents were kidnapped, Diamond and Obsidian must take care of their younger siblings. But how? They are facing both the threat of intruders and the threat of starvation. Will they survive or will their fate fall into the hands of the intruders? Or worse yet, will they starve to death?

Enter the world of The Diamond Mini-Series. It is a mini-series of short stories, each one picking up where the other one left off. Follow Diamond on her journey of survival and life.

The Core (The Diamond Mini-Series Book #2)
Continue to follow Diamond and Sid in their fight for survival and to keep the core in the right hands. The enemy is closer than ever searching for the core, something so powerful it could sustain the energy of half of the US, but if it were to fall into the wrong hands in a society that is overwhelmingly desperate for energy, it could mean the end of freedom and lives. Watch as Diamond battles with the shadows of her recent past. Her struggle within could compromise the safety of those around her.

Five Questions:

1. Why did you choose to write a book in the Young Adult genre?

I chose YA because it is a time in life many people look back upon fondly because of their having experienced a lot of FIRSTS. For those who are barely experiencing it, everything is new and exciting and full of possibilities.  The spirit is freer without the adult responsibilities.

2. Who is your favourite character you have written and why?

WOW! That's like having to choose a favorite child. If I absolutely had to choose, I would have to say Obsidian or as he is fondly called, Sid. He's sweet and kind. He takes care of Mica (his little sister) and Diamond. He is also intelligent, funny, and hot, all in one package.

3. Describe a typical writing day for you?

When I actually get a chance to sit down to write I have somewhat of a ritual. First, I clean up the mess on my desk. Next, I check e-mails and Facebook so I won't be wondering about them. Then, I read over what I wrote on the previous night and try to reenact everything in my mind to see if it makes sense. Once I am done with all of that, I start typing away. I tend to edit as I write so sometimes a good night may be only 200 words because I have revised and edited. It also makes it easier when I do the final editing before I hand it over to my beta readers.

4. What are you reading at the moment?

At the moment I'm looking at my TBR list to see what is next. I try to squeeze in a little reading when I can, but it's difficult when I have so much to read for the university. I guess at THIS moment I am reading: International Financial Management by Jeff Madura, For pleasure I would love to read City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments) by Cassandra Clare. I have wanted to read this series for so long, but haven't had the time. I've been sticking to quick reads for right now.

5. If you turned your ipod on now, what would be the song that is currently playing?

Hahahaha! I think I'm the only person on this planet that doesn't own one. I do however listen to music on YouTube. The song currently playing is one I chose a couple of months ago as part of the playlist for one of my first adult full length novel, Nerves of Steel. The song is called Just a Kiss by Lady Antebellum.
