My Thoughts:
Molly has been walking through life with the burden of grief and guilt weighing heavily on her shoulders. Grief and guilt at the death of her father and if that wasn't enough add in the death of her fiancé coupled with the grief and the guilt she feels over his death. It all becomes too much one day as she is sitting in a law degree lecture when she decides she can no longer continue down this path. So she packs up and heads back to her childhood home.
Back in Clayton falls, the very last thing Molly wants is to start a relationship. And she definitely doesn't want to rekindle her old romance with her high school boyfriend Ben. But Ben has never gotten over Molly. He's been waiting for his chance to fix the mistakes that he made the first time around. And he's persistent!!
I just adored Ben!! I loved that he has grown into the man that Molly needs. I loved that he could look back and readily admit the stupid mistakes that he made. And I loved the passion with which he loves Molly!! But there is someone else after Molly's affections. And he is also incredibly persistent. But will Molly allow either man into her heart?
Molly's pain is palpable. Although she does her best to hide it from everyone, as the reader it's always there and you wear the burden right along with her. I loved the rediscoveries of friendships and love that she made. I loved the growth that she went through in being able to see things that had happened in the past more clearly.
Being a New Adult book it does contain sex, but it's definitely not too wordy or overly descriptive. It's really just written perfectly to capture the emotions that Molly and Ben are experiencing.
Filled with emotion, a wonderful strong female lead in Molly, an incredibly swoony male lead in Ben and the amazing writing of Alyssa Rose Ivy, Derailed is a book that you don't want to deprive yourself the pleasure of reading!!
