BLOG TOUR - REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Runes (Runes #1) by Ednah Walters

Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about Torin. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only are she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

My Thoughts:

"You marked me with your stupid runes" I said through clenched teeth.
He pretended to think about it. "If I marked you Freckles, I'd be under your skin. You wouldn't think of anything or anyone but me twenty-four-seven.
I'd thought of him nonstop ever since we met.

Ednah Walters you are a cruel, cruel woman!!! That ending!!! That ending is going to eat at me and torture me and haunt me until book two, Immortals is released and I can hopefully get some relief from that ending. Or at least have me some more Torin!!

If you looked in the dictionary for the meaning of the word perfect then it would say Runes by Ednah Walters. I absolutely loved everything about this book. There was not one aspect of it that didn't hit the mark for me. Runes was the perfect blend of romance, heat and paranormal. It was the perfect blend of friendships and action and discovery. It was full stop, perfect!!!

As when I read any author that is new to me, I go into it with an incredible excitement because while it's so awesome to have your favourite authors, it's also incredibly special to discover a new author to add to that favourites list. And let me tell you, Ednah Walters has jumped right on up that list.

Raine Cooper is dealing with the disappearance of her father. She has the support of her two best friends Cora and Eirik. Eirik has been her lifelong friend and secret crush and when he finally makes his move, Raine couldn't be happier. It's what she's wanted for such a long time. But then Torin St. James moves in next door and Raine's life gets a whole lot more interesting.

I can't recall ever having read a book that featured Runes and Norse Mythology before, so my knowledge was really quite limited. But it didn't matter whatsoever because the author did a fantastic job of explaining things along the way. As Raine delved deeper into finding out what Torin and his world involved we learnt with her along the way.

I loved every character in this book. The good, the bad and everyone in between. Raine was a wonderful protagonist. She was really likeable and I found her to be multilayered  I adored the relationship between Raine and her best friends Cora and Eirik. The fun banter between them was awesome. I loved the caring side of Eirik. Not just towards Raine but with Cora as well.

I took a step back. my pulse leaping. In one sweeping glance, I took in the strangers shaggy black hair, piercing Pacific-blue eyes under arched eyebrows, black leather jacket, and hip-hugging jeans. Either fate had conjured the poster boy of all my fantasies and deposited him on my doorstep or I was dreaming.

Torin St James. Ultimate book crush!! He had everything that made him perfect to me. Bad boy vibe, gorgeous smile, rides a Harley, says the most perfect swoony things, protective, caring, sexy... Do I need to go on? Oh, and he has the cutest nickname for Raine ever!!!

I cannot wait for more of Raine and Torin. Runes and the writing of Ednah Walters exceeded my expectations on all levels and while I endure the wait for book two I will be purchasing and making the time to read everything else that she has written.

5/5 Perfect, Swoony Torin Stars!!
