She’s seventeen. She’s snarky. She’s trouble…
It wasn’t nicking an expressive watch or diamond bracelet that landed Jona Montiniere in the clutches of the police. It was just a darn sweater. After a spectacular, failed escapade, she is forced to return to a mother who spurned her. Jona is furious about the judge’s decision—until she meets her mother’s companion. Gorgeous, provocative, and mysterious, Julian is everything her lonely heart desires. But then he awakens her mother from the dead with a simple touch.
Hunting for the truth in a strange new home, Jona unearths broken promises and bitter secrets. Soon she realizes she’ll once again lose someone she loves…unless she gives him a reason to stay. But how the hell do you keep an angel earthbound?
My Thoughts:
Wow, wow, WOW!!! What a fantastic book!!! I stayed up way past the point of my body telling me to go to bed. My mind would hear none of it!! It wanted this book and it wouldn't settle until it had devoured it all!!
Jona Montiniere was placed in an orphanage by her mother many years ago. Finding herself standing in front of a judge again after being picked up by the police for stealing a sweater he takes up the option of sending her to spend six weeks with her mother and an aunt and uncle she didn't know existed in France. Jona is none too happy about the decision and doesn't go to any great lengths to hide the fact. The very last thing she wants to do is spend any time with the mother who abandoned her. Then she meets her mothers companion Julian. Jona assumes he his her mothers much younger lover. But she can't help but be drawn to him.
Her Game, His Rules is such a multi layered book. It is a story of friendship, family, redemption, forgiveness, love and growth. It is a story filled with rich and beautiful characters. Jona, is sassy and smart mouthed and it's going to take some work to knock down those walls that she's built up around her heart. Those are the walls she uses to protect herself from more hurt and pain. But if anyone can do it, it's Julian with his patience and love. He is a man who is so full of goodness. But he's also a man who has secrets. How will Jona react when she leans what he is? And will she allow herself the love that she's been without for so many years!!

I have to make mention of the cover. I readily admit that's what usually draws me in, and when I first saw this cover I knew that I had to read it because I was instantly in love!! Isn't he beautiful!! But it was also the girl in the wing looking so lost and alone!!
I'm a sucker for an angel story and this one is definitely going right up there as one of my favourites thanks to the wonderful and captivating storytelling of Piper Shelley. This is a book that I would not hesitate to recommend!! I look forward to reading what's next from this author!!
