REVIEW: Dangerous (Dangerous #1) by Suzannah Daniels

Stone Hamilton had never known fear...until the accident. Since then, his life has spiraled out of control. He's been kicked out of private school, deemed a disappointment by his father, and forced to endure his own guilt, anger, and grief. The last thing he wants is a relationship with someone who will have expectations of him. But once he's enticed by the shimmering pink lips of the oh-so-popular, academically-excelling, straitlaced hottie from his new school, he knows he's in trouble.

Seventeen-year-old Dara Golding has one goal for the summer: make enough money to buy a car, so that she can drive to school her senior year. After starting a new job, she realizes that she'll be working with the brooding, motorcycle-riding, bad boy who started attending Quail Mountain High last year. With his less than stellar reputation, he's everything she's afraid of...and that makes him dangerous.

Their undeniable attraction has Stone struggling with his inner demons. As Dara slowly allows Stone to claim her heart, a little white lie to cover an ugly truth could determine whether she's his savior or the final straw that will break his sanity.

My Thoughts:

The warmth from his hands was like heaven against my icy skin, but his close proximity was dangerous to my hammering heart. In fact, if I had to describe Stone Hamilton in one word, it would be dangerous.

Whenever I read a book I never go back and reread the book description before I start. I love to go in with an element of surprise. When I started reading Dangerous, for some reason I thought it was a paranormal book, so I kept waiting for that aspect to be introduced. I think maybe the title had me thinking that, but I'm not too sure. Anyway, it's a contemporary. No paranormal whatsoever.

Dangerous is told in the alternating voices of our two main characters Stone Hamilton and Dara Golding. Dara is sweet and popular and has just broken up with her longterm boyfriend Chance. Her main goal is to start her new job at the local bookstore and save enough money to buy herself a car. Stone is in his own words "Conceited and a badass". He has no desire to have a girlfriend. He chooses girls who like things just like him. No strings attached. He is broody and loves nothing more than the feeling of being free when he's riding his motorbike. Both have had to deal with some horrible tragedies in their lives and they both carry the scars of those things with them.

He kissed me gently at first. but then he nibbled at my lip and his tongue slipped into my mouth. I wasn't just being kissed. I was being devoured.

Stone and Dara are going to be working closely together at the bookstore. Dara knows Stones reputation, but she can't help the draw that she feels towards him. Stone lets Dara in. She asks questions that make him think. And he finds himself wanting more than the shallow hookups that he's had in the past. But love never runs smooth and Stone and Dara are going to have their feelings for each other tested on more than one occasion. Will they each think that the other is worth fighting for?

Eventually, she'd know more about me than she really wanted to know. I had told Dara too much already. Better that I not delude myself with dreams of grandeur. There was no rewind button. No clicking an undo arrow. This was my life, and it sucked.

Suzannah Daniels has written a story that was incredibly easy to read. The writing flowed really well and kept me interested throughout. The two main characters were likeable and I really enjoyed experiencing Stone and Dara's romance through the eyes of both of them. Stone has a big ego. His opinion of himself is pretty crazy but I felt for the most part it was pretty tongue in cheek and who can't help but fall in love with the motorcycle riding bad boy!! The secondary character that I enjoyed the most was Granny. She's got spunk and she had me grinning at some of the things that she would say, but she is also incredibly loving and caring.

I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next for the characters and discovering more insight to a few things left open in book one.

4/5 Stars!!
