Ever since her sixteenth birthday, strange things keep happening to Seraphina Parrish. Unexplainable premonitions catapult her to faraway cities. A street gang wants to kill her, and a beautiful, mysterious boy stalks her.

But when Sera moves to Chicago, and her aunt reveals their family connection to a centuries old, secret society, she’s immediately thrust into an unbelievable fantasy world, leading her on a quest to unravel the mysteries that plague her. In the end, their meanings crash into an epic struggle of loyalty and betrayal, and she’ll be forced to choose between the boy who has stolen her heart and the thing she desires most.

Wander Dust is the breathtaking fantasy that will catapult you through a story of time, adventure, and love.

My Thoughts:

On so many levels I'm lost. Lost in my new space. Lost in my thoughts. Lost from my father, my mother. Each thought pushes me further into a depression.

I have had Wander Dust on my TBR list since it was first released in 2011 but just hadn't managed to get around to reading it. Unfortunately, I'm sure there are many, many books that I'll never get to, due to there just not being enough hours in the day. I'm so grateful that I eventually made the time for Wander Dust. Since it had been so long since I had even read the book description I was able to be completely taken by surprise as the story unfolded.

Seraphina Parrish has had some strange things happen to her lately. Things that make her question her sanity. She lives with a father who is there in body but doesn't offer a whole lot of emotional support. She craves it, and so she acts out by breaking a few rules at school. In doing so, she guarantees his attention. At least for a little while. After Sera's latest incident, her dad makes the decision to send her to stay with her Aunt Mona. It's here that Sera is about to learn that she isn't going crazy, but is in fact a Wanderer and is part of a secret society that lives among Normals. Sent to a school to hone her abilities, it's from this point that Sera will really begin to come into her own.

I haven't read a lot of time travel books before. And comparing what I have read to Wander Dust, I can say that it was very original and different to the few others that I have read. It was full of action, mystery and suspense and managed to keep me engrossed in the story the whole way throughout.

I really liked Sera. As far as her emotions went, she was a really believable character. I also felt that she grew a lot as her story unfolded and she embraced all the changes to her life and for the most part faced them head on. Her strength to make the tough choices really came into play when needed as showed what a tenacious girl she is.

"You are so breathtaking," he says in a delicate whisper. Gently, he grazes the back of his fingers across my cheek. His hand is soft and soothing. Then his palm slips behind my ear and cups my neck. His other hand follows. He hesitates as though he's waiting for permission to be closer.

I think of our lips finally meeting, trembling and burning on impact. I've been dreaming about it since the first moment I saw him. With all my heart I want to kiss him.

The romance between Sera and Bishop didn't really come into play until the very end of the book. There were times that it was eluded to, and we certainly knew that Sera found Bishop attractive, but other than the occasional look between the two of them, there wasn't a great deal of anything else. But once it does all start to fall into place, it certainly made the wait worthwhile. The attraction between the two of them was also all the more believable because it wasn't an instant love.

After finishing Wander Dust, I admit to having a few questions that were left unanswered and as completely as I loved Bishop, I would have liked to know him on a deeper level. But I'm hoping that I will have all of those wishes fulfilled in the next book, Protecting Truth. Overall, I really loved the fantasy world that Michelle Warren created in Wander Dust and I would definitely recommend it to all YA paranormal lovers.

  1. Heeey! This looks great. Although, I was just wondering, do you send books to people out of the United States? Like, would you possibly be able to send them to someone in South Africa? x
