Excerpt:
“Thanks guys. I’m gonna miss you SO much,”
I said, as tears stung my eyes again.
“We’re going to miss you too! What are we going to do without you our last, crucial year? We’re finally going to be seniors,” Lia said, her eyes tearing as soon as she saw mine.
Jeremy looked at me, and a single tear grazed his cheek. He quickly turned away and lifted his glasses, quickly wiping his face with his shirt. That was the first time I’d ever seen Jeremy get emotional.
“You guys will be fine. And it won’t be forever. I promise to email and send pictures.”
“You better,” Lia said, wagging her finger at me.
And then… something happened. A sudden euphoric feeling; an unexplainable heat shot through every cell in my body. My pulse quickened, along with my breath, and tingles pricked my skin. A
rush of adrenaline flooded my veins and my surroundings began to haze. I grasped onto the edge of the bed, taking in long, deep breaths.
“Hey, are you okay?” Jeremy asked, scooting over to me, grabbing hold of my shoulders.
“Emma, what’s wrong?” Lia called, jumping behind me, pounding my back.
Hello! I’m not choking! I wanted to speak those words, but I couldn’t answer them. It was like all the breath had been sucked out of my lungs.
Then…there was a knock at the door, and we all turned to look.
“We’re going to miss you too! What are we going to do without you our last, crucial year? We’re finally going to be seniors,” Lia said, her eyes tearing as soon as she saw mine.

My Thoughts:
I was in another world, living another life; a life most humans knew nothing about, a life that was told in mythical tales and legends . It was unfathomable but it was real, and I was a part of it whether I wanted to be, or not.
Seventeen year old Emma Wise has just survived a car crash that claimed the lives of her both of her parents. Thinking that she has no family, she is surprised when she is told that she has an Aunt and she will be moving to Alaska to live with her. Equally surprising is the stunningly gorgeous Kade who has been sent to escort her to her destination and the immediate attraction that is between Emma and Kade. Devastated by the loss of her parents and the fact that she will be leaving her two best friends behind, Emma does her best to put on a brave face. But Kade's calming presence will help make things easier for Emma. But it's not long before Emma's world is thrown into a tailspin and she will have to call on all of her strength and determination.
Never having read anything written by Cameo Renae before, but having heard fantastic things about Hidden Wings, I have to say that my expectations were fairly high going into this. Sometimes having such high expectations can lead to disappointment. But not with Hidden Wings. Cameo Renae delivered an amazing book on all fronts.
For me, reading is my escape so there is nothing quite like reading a book that is just so easy to read. A book that is smooth and flows freely and is just effortless. But at the same time, you're right there in the pages with all the characters experiencing the story just as they are experiencing it. That's exactly how Hidden Wings was for me!! The story flowed so easily that before I knew it I had finished and was so disappointed that I didn't have more to read!!
I admit to loving books that are full of romance. And while there is definitely romance in Hidden Wings, it's not the main focus of the story. It's interspersed throughout, given to us through the feelings and occasional touches between the characters. But there is no doubt about the feelings that Emma and Kade have for each other.
My heart began to swell to the point of bursting. I'd never experienced feelings like this before, but then again, my feelings seemed to go out-of-whack whenever he was near. It felt like we were destined to find each other, and everything inside of us seemed to be confirming that fact.
Hidden Wings is action packed. There are epic battle scenes which had me on the edge of my seat trying to anticipate what would happen next. There is drama, suspense and mystery.
One of the stand out aspects of Hidden Wings was the interaction between all the characters. There was some fantastic dialogue and banter between them all. It was so much fun. They all had a familial ease about them and it was so easy to grasp how much they all cared for each other.
I've become an instant fan of Cameo Renae and June, and the release of Broken Wings can't come fast enough. Grab yourself a copy of Hidden Wings. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed!!!
