Excerpt:
Darkness—that was all I could see. I looked down, trying to catch a glimpse of my feet as they trampled upon the unseen ground.
An invisible force pulled me while I listened to the sound of many voices. It was bitter cold; my fingertips grew numb with every step I took. It was quiet here—too quiet. My heartbeat sounded like drums softly played by weak hands.
Something lay in the darkness ahead of me. My eyes squinted in an attempt to better visualize the unrecognizable. My breathing failed once I realized it was her—it was Nephele.
Emotions stirred within me; rage shadowed my mind as I approached her body.
She attempted to stand to her feet, feebly moving her arms. It was apparent that an invisible power pinned her down. My wings made their way out of my back as rage continued to take over. I grasped my sword, marching in her direction.
I knelt next to her. Our eyes met.
Without hesitating, I pierced her left hand; blood flowed like a waterfall. Her body trembled as she opened her mouth to scream, but no sound came forth.
You deserve to die, I thought, standing back on my feet. The memories of all the pain she had caused me played over in my head. I placed my right foot on her skull, pressing it against the ground.
I sank my sword into her chest. I was clueless of my whereabouts, but happy to know that my mortal enemy lay here, defenseless.
The sound of her slowing heartbeat invaded my ears. I lifted my foot from her head, kneeling next to her once again.
“You see,” I whispered in her ear. “Even with all of your dark powers, Nephele, in the end, you will never win.”

BLOG TOUR - PROMO: Few Are Angels Series by Inger Iversen

Immortal Heart (Few Are Angels Book #0.5)
More than a century after the tragedy of Hélène's death and before Ella found Kale bruised and broken on her doorstep, Kale moved through the world in a haze of personal punishment allowing it to consume him. Until his friend, Detective Deacon, a newly infected Chorý calls on him for a favor.

In this prequel to the Few Are Angels series, Kale is thrown into a world of human blood trafficking and is introduced to a Chorý that offers him a chance at happiness— in blood.

Few Are Angels (Few Are Angles #1)
After a fatal hit and run accident, Ella Monroe fears that she’s lost more than her beloved parents. Horrifying visions of a past life and a disturbing voice in her head have psychiatric professionals convinced that she’s lost her sanity as well. But when Kale—a dark and handsome stranger with a mysterious pastreveals the true meaning of her visions and the tremendous power she wields through them, Ella must come to terms with the devastating truths of her own past, while eluding an ancient Dark Prince who seeks to control not only her future, but all of mankind’s, by means of abilities that Ella is only beginning to understand.

Enter the shrouded world of an age old battle between an ancient race known as the Immortals and their bitter enemy Laurent, the so-called Dark Prince, who commands an army of half-breed vampires known as Chorý. Both sides have been desperately searching for the prophesied emergence of the Arc, a clairvoyant with unparalleled power to recall the past and a soothsayer with clear vision into the future.

The Council of Immortals has sworn to protect the Arc, whom they have identified as young Ella Monroe, a college freshman from Virginia living quietly and unaware of her powers or her past. But a renegade Chorý has other plans for the protection of a girl he has loved through the ages. Can Kale convince Ella of who she is, what she is destined to become, and what he once meant to her? Is he truly the best protector to shield the world from the devastating misuse of her powers that Laurent is bent on controlling? Or will the forbidden love they share and Kale’s cursed condition as a retched and hated Chorý be used against them both?

This paranormal romance told from the heroine’s perspective builds in intensity and intrigue to a finale you won’t see coming. Heart pounding action mixed with heartwarming friendships and heartbreaking romance will leave you breathless and begging for more.

Awakened (Few Are Angels #2)
What must he overcome to protect her?

With no clue of what to do next and the responsibility of looking after Alex and Mia as promised, Kale is up to his ears in problems and no solutions. How will Kale save Ella, keep Alex and Mia safe, control Jace as well as control the Bloodlust that creeps beneath the surface waiting to be released? Will Kale be Ella's savior or will he convict her to a fate worse than the one Laurent has already promised her?

What truths will she learn?

Ella knows that the choices she makes affects not only her but everyone else around her, but what about the choices made to find her? Ella learns the truth about the death of her parents, learns that the ones she thought she could trust aren't so trustworthy after all.

BLOG TOUR - REVIEW: Immortal Heart (Few Are Angels 0.5) by Inger Iversen

Title: Immortal Heart
Series: Few Are Angels Book #0.5 (Prequel)
By: Inger Iversen

More than a century after the tragedy of Hélène's death and before Ella found Kale bruised and broken on her doorstep, Kale moved through the world in a haze of personal punishment allowing it to consume him. Until his friend, Detective Deacon, a newly infected Chorý calls on him for a favor.

In this prequel to the Few Are Angels series, Kale is thrown into a world of human blood trafficking and is introduced to a Chorý that offers him a chance at happiness— in blood.

My Thoughts:

He placed his hand on his chest. His non-beating heart had ceased distracting him long ago, but even after all this time, Kale still hoped to someday place his hand on his chest and feel the familiar thump of life pumping through his veins.

The Few Are Angels series has been on my radar for a while now. I had been so keen to read them, but always seemed to pick up something else to read instead. Immortal Heart has such a gorgeously pretty cover, but I have to admit that I wasn't especially taken in by the synopsis of this one. I wanted romance, and this one didn't scream romance to me. But when the chance to join the blog tour came up, I decided that this was the perfect chance to dive into this series.

I found the story to be quite a bit slow paced at the beginning and I didn't feel a great connection to the characters. I liked them well enough, but they just weren't jumping off the pages to grab my attention. But gradually I found the pacing picked up and I found myself really beginning to like Kale and Deacon although I don't think that I ever felt like I really got to know Sola very well at all. She came across as a nice character, but for me, she didn't have a lot of depth to her.

There is a bit of a romance here between Kale and Sola. Kale was pretty honest with Sola in telling her that his heart belonged to Helene, and that may have been why I didn't really feel a great connection with them as a couple, so I was actually really happy with the way the author played things out between them. I don't deny that the characters felt attraction towards each other, I just think that Kale's heart belongs to someone else so completely, that it was never going to go further than the few kisses that they shared.

"I belong to you," he told her, meaning every word. "My soul, my heart-everything that I am, and everything that I could ever be."

Kale always came across as so stoic and in control throughout most of the book, so the best part for me was about the last third of the book, which was gripping and exciting. This is when I think we really got some great insights into Kale's struggles. Firstly with the craving for blood and secondly with his love for Helene. It was this last third that sold the book for me. It may sound strange since he's not human, but getting a deeper look at his feelings really showed his human side and vulnerability.

I'm really keen to see how Kale and Ella's relationship is going to progress. Kale's love for Helene show's me so clearly the depths that his heart loves. His love for Helene appeared to have such tenderness to it. As I said, the last portion of the book sold the story for me and it's that part of the book that has me incredibly keen to continue with this series.

4/5 Sweet Kale Stars
