There are always two sides to every story . . .
His whole life, Jonah Whitecomb has strove to meet everyone’s expectations of him: the perfect student, dutiful son, loyal twin, accomplished surfer, and powerful Magical. But behind his carefully composed façade hides the truth of how his family has fallen apart, leaving Jonah more often than not feeling adrift. To complicate matters, he fell in love long ago with a girl in his dreams, one he’s never told anyone about, including his twin brother.
Just when life seems its bleakest, Jonah discovers that Chloe is real. Wanting to finally reach out and grab happiness for himself, he embarks on a journey to track down the girl of his dreams, only to find that happy endings aren’t always guaranteed, the best laid out plans can go horribly awry, and sometimes, you have to simply let yourself go along for the ride.
* Beyond Fate is Jonah’s point-of-view of the events of A Matter of Fate, and is a companion novella.
Dream Cast
While Beyond Fate features some very
familiar faces from the Fate series, it also brings to the forefront characters
who may’ve only been mentioned in A Matter of Fate or on the scene for
a small time. I was really glad to have the opportunity to let readers get to
know the people who have shaped Jonah and Kellan Whitecomb’s lives before they
moved to California.
First off, I know fans have lots of ideas
of how they visualize Jonah and Kellan. Since day one, I’ve seen a younger Ben
Barnes as a good match for them. Give this guy some bright blue eyes (and a
dimple for Jonah) and he’d be perfect!
Here’s Jonah . . .
And here’s his twin brother, Kellan
They both just so happen to be in love with
Chloe Lilywhite. Imogene Poots will always be Chloe to me.
One of the most influential people in
Jonah’s life was his Uncle Joey. Pro surfer Brett Simpson is exactly how I see
Joey in my mind—which makes sense, consider Joey is a Tide and is the one to
teach the twins to surf.
Joey’s wife, Hannah, takes care of the
twins until tragedy strikes. Lili Taylor makes the perfect Hannah.
Ewan Whitecomb, the twins’ father, has
blonde hair and looks a lot like they do. It was tough finding somebody to
match how I see him in my mind, but Jon Hamm has a definite Ewan vibe. Except,
you know, Ewan never smiles.
When he lived in Maine, Jonah dated Callie
Lotus for three years. She’s part Elf and incredibly beautiful. I have no idea
who this girl is, but she really looks a lot like Cal to me.
Callie’s mom, Astrid Lotus, is the closest
thing Jonah has had for a mother most of his life. Michelle Pfeiffer is so
Astrid to me.
So, those are how I see some of the
characters. I’d love to know whom readers see in these roles!

About Heather Lyons:
Heather Lyons has
always had a thing for words—She’s been writing stories since she was a kid. In
addition to writing, she’s also been an archaeologist and a teacher. Heather is
a rabid music fan, as evidenced by her (mostly) music-centric blog, and she’s
married to an even larger music snob. They’re happily raising three kids who
are mini music fiends who love to read and be read to.
